Strange Radio News Always Turns Up On April 1
April 2, 2004 -- In a move calculated to influence the US 2004 elections in favor of anti-war and pro-Palestinian candidates for congress and the presidency, a prominent middle-eastern media outlet has announced the purchase of seven yet-to-be-named talk stations the top ten US radio markets.
And Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry is challenging the fairness of radio and TV station call letters that start with "W" in an election year.
No, not really.
The details of these spurious stories can only be found in the April 1 (April Fools) edition of the South Florida Radio Pages: http://www.univox.com/radio
In previous years, the April 1 editions of The South Florida Radio Pages have reported Clear Channel's takeover of Microsoft and other silly things. But they won't be on the front page for long. Next week you'll need to search to read the stories.
The South Florida Radio Pages was created in 1995 by tech writer and admitted radio nut David Citron.
Now searchable and fully indexed, the South Florida Radio Pages include essays about radio history by some of south Florida's most prominent radio personalities.
Don't miss it!
